PERSONAL INSURANCE · HOME COVERAGE
Know what your home policy would do after a loss.
For homeowners buying, renewing or reviewing a policy, the useful questions go beyond premium: Would the dwelling limit reflect rebuilding costs? How are roof losses settled? Which deductibles, belongings and liability limits apply, and what might need separate coverage? We’ll help compare the policy terms and confirm options for your address.
Tell us where your home is located to confirm whether we can help. Availability and policy terms vary by address, product, carrier and appropriately licensed team member.

FOUR QUESTIONS TO START
The coverage details worth checking.
The actual policy—not a general list of benefits—determines what is covered. These questions help you compare your current protection with any available alternative.
1. What would it cost to rebuild?
Your home’s market price and the cost to rebuild it are different questions. Review the dwelling limit, recent additions and local labor or material costs; ask how the policy handles replacement cost.
2. What would you pay first?
Read the general deductible and check whether wind, hail or another loss has a separate deductible. Ask how roof damage is settled—replacement cost and actual cash value can lead to different outcomes.
3. What else is protected?
Look at personal property, other structures, liability and additional living expenses after a covered loss. Valuable items and detached buildings may have limits that deserve a closer look.
4. What is excluded?
Standard homeowners policies generally exclude flood. Water backup, earthquake and unusual occupancy are separate questions; do not assume a particular endorsement or policy is available without confirming the address and carrier.
THE PROPERTY MATTERS
Tell us how your home is actually used.
A primary residence, condo, manufactured home, seasonal property or rental can require a different policy discussion. Share whether anyone rents the space, whether there is a detached shop or other building, and whether you have made improvements since the last renewal.
If flood, valuable items, recreational vehicles or other unusual exposures are part of the picture, explore our specialty coverage guide and ask what a separate policy or endorsement might address.
What to note before you call
- Property address and how it is occupied
- Approximate roof age and recent improvements
- Detached buildings, valuable belongings or home-based work
- Your current dwelling limit, deductibles and renewal date, if available
- The loss or coverage question that concerns you most
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Review the terms before you change anything.
Our team can begin with your questions and current declarations pages. We start with available Farmers options; where appropriate and permitted, our licensed team may also explore approved additional markets. A licensed professional confirms eligibility, policy language and next steps.
You do not need to switch carriers to ask for a review, and sending a request does not bind, cancel or change coverage. For a secure way to share current policy information, use our policy-connection option rather than ordinary email or the brief request form.
One useful comparison
If you are considering two offers, line up the dwelling and liability limits, roof settlement terms, deductibles and major exclusions side by side. A lower premium alone does not tell you what you would receive after a covered loss.
LOCAL STARTING POINTS
Questions change with the property’s location.
The examples below offer local starting points; no single hazard applies to every address. Contact us to confirm availability in your state.
Colorado
Ask about hail and roof terms, wildfire-related rebuilding questions and separate flood coverage where relevant.
Nebraska
Review roof settlement, wind/hail deductibles, detached shops or outbuildings, and flood questions.
Arizona
Discuss replacement cost, condo or rental use, monsoon-related water damage and separate flood coverage.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you request a review.
We can start with a conversation even if you do not have every document ready.
Is the market value of my house my insurance limit?
Not necessarily. The amount it would take to rebuild may differ from the price you could sell the house for. Ask a licensed professional how the offered dwelling limit was determined.
Does home insurance cover flooding?
Standard homeowners policies generally exclude flood. Ask about a separate policy, its limits, deductible and effective date.
Can you review my policy without switching?
Yes. We can discuss your current limits, deductibles and questions before you decide whether to explore another option.
Is the form an instant quote?
No. It starts a consultation. A licensed team member will confirm available products and the information needed for a quote; submitting does not change coverage.
READY TO TALK?
Request a home insurance review.
Tell us about the property, choose Personal insurance on the form and include the state where you need coverage. Our team will follow up with questions and next steps. This is not an instant quote or a way to bind coverage.
Prefer a conversation? Contact our team and tell us where the home is located. Colorado new business: (303) 799-0909; Arizona: (480) 296-7414; Nebraska: (308) 216-3626. For existing policy service, call (303) 706-1000. Do not include sensitive information or policy documents in this brief form; share current policy details securely if you have them.
