PERSONAL INSURANCE · LIFE COVERAGE
Life insurance starts with who depends on you.
For households and business owners whose income or care supports others, start with who relies on you, which obligations would remain and for how long. How does coverage through work fit? What are the tradeoffs between available term and permanent policies? A licensed team member can explain options, underwriting and costs for your circumstances.
Tell us your state to confirm whether we can help. Products, eligibility and terms vary by person, state, carrier and appropriately licensed team member.

A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT
Three questions before comparing policies.
There is no one-size-fits-all coverage amount. Start with the people, obligations and time period you want a policy to address, then compare premiums you can realistically maintain.
1. Who relies on you?
Consider income you contribute and care you provide, including childcare or support for a family member. A household may need time to adjust even when it has more than one income.
2. What would still need paying?
Think about housing costs, debts, education goals, final expenses and any business obligations. Look at savings and coverage you already have before deciding what gap remains.
3. How long is the need?
Some responsibilities have a clear end date, while others may continue. Ask what coverage duration and premium schedule would fit your budget, including what could happen after an initial term.
UNDERSTAND THE TRADEOFF
Term and permanent coverage work differently.
These are broad categories, not a recommendation. A licensed professional can explain which products are available, how they are underwritten and what their actual illustrations and contracts say.
Term life
Generally designed for a chosen period, such as the years dependents rely on your income. It typically has lower initial premiums than comparable permanent coverage and usually does not build cash value. Ask when the term ends, whether it can be renewed or converted, and what future premiums could be.
Permanent life
Designed for longer-term coverage and may include a cash-value feature. Premiums, guarantees, fees, loans and benefit details vary substantially by product. Ask for a clear explanation of what is guaranteed, what can change and how accessing cash value could affect the policy.
REVIEW WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE
Keep your current protection in view.
Workplace life insurance and an existing individual policy belong in the conversation. Check the benefit amount, beneficiary, coverage duration and what happens if you leave a job. If you are considering a replacement, do not cancel an existing policy before new coverage is issued and effective.
We begin with available Farmers options; where appropriate and permitted, our licensed team may explore approved additional markets. A licensed professional confirms eligibility, policy language, underwriting, price and next steps. A request does not start, cancel or change coverage.
Bring these questions to a review
- Who should receive the benefit, and is that designation up to date?
- What obligations and expenses would remain?
- How much coverage do you already have through work or elsewhere?
- How long might someone depend on the benefit?
- What ongoing premium feels sustainable for your household?
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you request a review.
The right answers depend on your circumstances and the specific policy. These are useful questions to bring to a licensed professional.
Is life insurance through work enough?
It might help, but its amount and portability may not match your needs. Compare it with the obligations and time frame you identified; check what happens if your employment changes.
Can I name more than one beneficiary?
Policies commonly allow multiple beneficiaries and shares. Confirm current designations with the insurer. If a minor or complex estate is involved, consider qualified legal advice as well.
Do I need to decide on term or permanent first?
No. Start with your purpose, duration and budget; ask to compare available products against those needs before applying.
Will this form give me an instant price?
No. It starts a conversation. A licensed team member can explain the information and underwriting needed for an available quote; the brief form does not bind coverage.
READY TO TALK?
Request a life insurance review.
Choose Life insurance on the form and include your state. A team member will follow up to understand your goals and discuss possible next steps. You do not need to share health history or financial account details in this brief request.
Prefer a call? Colorado: (303) 799-0909; Arizona: (480) 296-7414; Nebraska: (308) 216-3626. Product availability and eligibility vary; no coverage begins until approved and put in force.
